Day Shift (Netflix) film analysis

Jamie Foxxand Dave Franco star in the vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie tells the story of a blue collar dad trying to provide a better life for his young daughter. However, his routine job in San Fernando Valley pool cleaning is a disguise for his true income, hunting down and killing vampires as part of an International Union of Viper Hunters.

Although the premise sounds great, can J.J. Perry make it work?

The opening scene of the film is a wild action sequence that sees Jamie Foxx shooting a shotgun at an old lady, who turns out to have been a vampire. The two of them then have a wild fight that turns out to be a great time. I feel like the movie really has fun with this kind of rag-doll physics in its action scenes, making those sequences pop in a way that a lot of the Netflix action movies (or action blockbusters these days) don't.

Day Shift may be the worst movie ever made. It is so obvious what they were trying, yet it fails so miserably. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. Yet, somehow I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for vampire movies, or maybe it's because I just enjoy watching bad movies. Day Shift was a fun movie. Although it's not a great film, it's still a lot fun. That's really all I want from a movie such as this.

Day Shift was an interesting movie. While there were some good action scenes, and some interesting characters (the two brothers, Seth), the villain was terrible, and there were a lot mediocre characters. I suppose that helps the more talented characters shine. It seemed like there were missing scenes that were not cut. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. Bud made prank phone calls while working at the gas station, which was probably the best scene in the movie. It was hilarious. I loved it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift has a mixed record. Some parts are great, and some parts are terrible. This movie is great for those who want to have a good time and laugh.

Snoop Dogg is almost gone. He's fantastic (vampire movie) in Day Shift. He makes the whole movie worth watching. His comedy is great and he's funny. But he is also so natural in his role. It's like he was born to play it.
